The Difference
Responsible Print® is about so much more than just using recycled paper. Recycled fibre is a good start, but the print processes and the design brief could have far more bearing on the environmental performance of the finished item than the choice of paper. Every part of the process must be taken into account to ensure that the print job has as little impact on the environment as possible.
Throughout of the Responsible Print® supply chain there are companies who have completely revolutionised their methods of production in order to operate in an environmentally friendly way and each Responsible Print® supplier have their own unique mix of initiatives. To give you an idea of what makes Responsible Print® so worthwhile, here is a list of measures which have been implemented by suppliers over and above the minimum criteria shown on the Criteria page:
- Alcohol free printing
- Waterless printing
- 100% renewable energy supply to factory and office
- Reduced energy consumption year on year - despite increase in turnover
- If not alcohol free, reduced IPA consumption year on year
- Landfill waste halved over three years
- Grey water recycling
- Carbon reduction schemes and CO2 reduction commitment
- Documented VOC reductions year on year
- Low energy factory lighting including energy saving devices such as sensors which switch off light when natural light is sufficient
- ISO 12647:2 colour management allowing for reduction in make ready waste, less spoilage and decreased ink density
- Vegetable based pantone and metallic inks
- Carbon neutral fleet
